The geology of Utah is unique in that Utah has strata (rock layers) visible from each geologic epoch dating back 2.1 billion years. Through millions of years of tectonic processes and erosion working on Utah these strata have been exposed in 4 distinct geographic regions, each relating to a distinct geologic epoch.
In this class we will explore the concepts of the applied science of geology in hopes of explaining how Utah came to be the Utah we know today.
