COURSE REQUIREMENTS
SOPHOMORES
2007-2008
This is an introduction to literature course which focuses on World Literature. Students will be required to write analytical essays, keep a reading log, and participate in class discussions. This course will also rely heavily on computer projects and on-line assignments.
TEXTS: Fall: Haroun and the Sea of Stories, The Assault, Pride, Rashomon
Spring: Inferno, Faust, Survival in Auschwitz, Othello
Students must have:
Single subject spiral for writing journal
Pencil & pen
Respect for your teacher and all students in class .
Students must be responsible for their own behavior in class. If your behavior becomes distracting to other students you will be dismissed from class and receive detention. If this behavior continues you will fail this class. English is a required subject; if you fail you will have to take summer school to make up the class.
LATE WORK POLICY
Work must be ready and turned in during class the day it is due. Late work will be marked down by 10% , even if it is turned in later in the day. Do not call your parents to bring it to you. It will still be late. No work will be accepted after the first week.
If you are absent for illness please turn in work as soon as possible. It will not be accepted after one week after the absence.
If you are absent because of sports or any planned absence, such as a family vacation, the work is due the day you return. Check for assignments before you leave or with this web site to see what you have missed. Keep up with all daily reading, you may have a quiz upon your return.
